TMJ & jaw pain
Relief from jaw pain, clicking, and headaches
Clicking or locking, headaches, worn teeth, or pain when you chew — TMJ disorders are treatable. Dr. Delgado diagnoses the cause and designs comfortable, custom care, in person or online.
What is TMJ / TMD?
The temporomandibular joints connect your jaw to your skull. When the joint, muscles, or bite are stressed, the result — temporomandibular disorder (TMD) — can cause a surprising range of symptoms.
Signs we commonly treat:
- Jaw pain, tightness, or fatigue
- Clicking, popping, or locking of the jaw
- Frequent headaches or facial pain
- Worn, cracked, or sensitive teeth from grinding
- Ear pain or ringing with no ear infection
- Difficulty or discomfort chewing
How we treat TMJ
TMJ care is dentistry start to finish — Dr. Delgado can evaluate, diagnose, and treat it directly. Treatment is conservative and reversible first.
Evaluate
A thorough exam of your jaw, bite, and muscles — with imaging or scans where needed — to find the real cause.
Custom orthotic
A comfortable custom splint or orthotic unloads the joint, calms the muscles, and protects your teeth.
Follow & refine
We adjust the fit and follow your progress, adding supportive therapies as needed.
Two ways to start
Get evaluated for jaw pain
See Dr. Delgado in Farmington Hills, or start with a virtual consult from home.
Online TMJ care is available in many states (we'll confirm yours). Some hands-on steps, like taking impressions, may use a mailed kit or a brief in-person visit.
TMJ — common questions
Is jaw pain permanent?
Often no. Many TMJ symptoms improve with conservative, reversible care — a custom orthotic, habit changes, and follow-up. We start with the least invasive approach.
Do you treat teeth grinding (bruxism)?
Yes. Grinding and clenching are common drivers of jaw pain and worn teeth; a custom night appliance protects your teeth and relieves muscle strain.
Can TMJ be treated online?
Much of TMJ care — evaluation, planning, and follow-up — can happen by video. Certain hands-on steps may use a mailed impression kit or a short in-person visit. We'll outline your exact path.
Will insurance cover TMJ treatment?
Coverage varies and may fall under medical or dental plans. We'll help you understand your benefits — see Insurance & Billing.
